YVONNE WRITES TO US BOLA I met this young man who is very good looking. We became friends and three months down the line, he proposed to me. Bola, there is a major problem and I honestly do not know how to let him know. He sweats and has this terrible body odor especially so in the afternoons when he comes over to pick me up for lunch which he does regularly. The odor is so foul that, even after he has left, you can still smell this it for a couple of minutes. The first time I visited him at home, I noticed he is a very composed young man. His things are well arranged and neat. He has a collection of colognes and anti per spirants and he has everything every a young woman will fall for but at 34, he was still very single. I am beginning to think it’s because of this the reason why. Bola, he is a nice person and I like him but these three months with him has been hell. I cannot even bring myself to being intimate with him. He has very few friends and keeps to himself often. How do I handle this? I spoke to a doctor who asked that, he will have to speak to him to be able to diagnose something but how do I tell him? Will I not be bringing his self esteem down as a man? How will he take it? Granted he will even take it lightly, how do I tell him? I think he is so used to it he is not aware of it any more. I find myself making excuses anytime we have to go out on a public date. I also feel the need to help him. How do I handle this? Issues… If you have a friend or colleague in the office or in any social setting who has a bad odor or halitosis, how do you let them know without bringing their self esteem down? We would also generally like to look at personal hygiene on the whole… There are people who just do not have a any good sense of hygiene… dirty nails, unkempt hair, pubic hairs etc… some people are just scruffy and this can also impart your social life… HOW CAN WE HANDLE THESE ISSUES?
