Yada yada hi dharmasya Glanir bhavati bharata Abhyutthanam adharmasya Tadatmanam srjamy aham. Whenever and wherever there is decay of righteousness, O Bharata, And a rise of unrighteousness then I manifest Myself! Dharma or righteousness is a highly subjective concept. In context of the Gita it must be, as many will say, Sanatana dharma or Sanatana code of righteousness. Let us try to conjecture what may be this dharma all about. A society where varna and subsequent caste system is strictly followed. Where women live in their limits as lord Vishnus wife does sitting all the time by his feet or Sita does by obeying her husband all the time even when obeying meant self-annihilation. Where atheists have no place in society.Where lesbian and gays are the precursors of adharma. Where breaker of social hierarchy are the agents of adharma. In such a situation the lord will incarnate himself and set every odd right. The world being governed by the laws of science and people being dumb- fools and religiously blind, no incarnation will take place and some humbug manipulating peoples belief will execute his whims by castigating all those who he finds to be associated with adharma. History is a record of the pursuasion of such whims and its repetition has scope till people continue their faith in such concept.
