Yarmouk Refugees Camp Rally In Solidarity With Gaza Jul 24, 2014 In a show of solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Palestinians in the al-Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus staged a sit-in. The event was organized by the Palestinian Progressive women organization and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – The General Command, with the participation of humanitarian teams, Doctors, the Palestinian Red Crescent and many refugees in the camp. Participants thanked the resistance supporters namely Iran, Syria and Hezbollah. They also hailed the steadfastness of Palestinians in the besieged strip, calling on all of its residents to continue their resistance. Here in al-Yarmuk refugee camp in Damascus, Palestinians are suffering just like those in the Gaza Strip. However, they wanted to send a message that Palestinians are all united, especially when it comes to facing the Israeli enemy. Thousands of Palestinian refugees remain under the siege of foreign backed militants in the camp since 2012. The UN in cooperation with the Syrian government and humanitarian organizations continue to provide basic food and medical aid while militants remain blocking any peaceful solution in the camp.
