Years ago I sat by a river in Northern Laos reading Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof, unable to put the book down. As I turned page after page I knew Id found my new hero. When he was given an honorary degree at Brown University during my 5-Year Reunion and we ended up in the same room, I was truly star struck. You see in my world, Nick represents the best our society has to offer, and he is the type of celebrity that the world itself is derived from - one to be celebrated. For years Ive read his weekly New York Times Sunday column as the publication I revered most... So you can only imagine how I felt yesterday when he wrote about two books, one of them being the #PoPbook, as a suggested read for those seeking fulfillment, zest and passion in life. I cant put it fully into words, but all I can say is thank you Nick for showing me how to speak and write from a place of truth, honesty and vulnerability, and for spreading the books message that within every person lies an extraordinary story waiting to unfold.
