Years ago, I worked for my grandmother. She owned a very well known quilt shop, here in Vermont. Beginning in her home she created beautiful works of hand sewn bed quilts, baby quilts, and wall hangings. In our small resort village, she gained momentum quickly- and was soon shipping her custom orders across the United States as well as other countries! I began sewing at the age of eleven. Helping her with some ironing, and cutting. I learned a lot from her as the years went on, and began working full time for her in 1999 while pregnant with my first child. It wasnt long after that we came up with the idea to create quilts for children, using the clothes they wore as infants and toddlers. Years ago, it wasnt unusual to use old clothing, sheets, or other worn fabrics to create warm quilts out of something deemed useless. Weve always Recycled, it used to be The way of life. It has been quite a few years, and my grandmother is no longer with us- but I still love the look and feel of Memory Quilts the best. Thats why I have decided to go back to work, creating again...
