Years and years ago, I was on a double date in Southern California. Somehow we started talking about our birth orders in our various families. I said I was born nine years after my brother and eleven after my sister, adding, I was an after thought. The other guy said, Are you sure you werent a lack of thought? Then it hit me. I had never considered the possibility I wasnt a planned baby! Later I asked my mother. She told me I wasnt, quickly adding, But we were very happy when you were born! Later in life Mom gave me a pair of black onyx earrings for my birthday. Because you were onyx-pected, she said. So I am celebrating today, along with my family and friends. I may have been a surprise but I know the Lord had good plans for me. And even though Im 70 (Seventy!), I know He still has more for me to do.
