Yehovahs Word is Holy to me, and if we make any claim of fact - TopicsExpress

Yehovahs Word is Holy to me, and if we make any claim of fact based on it we should have been like the Bereans of old, investigating and confirming the facts for ourself. In the writings of a Bible commentator, named Daniel Kumisi, from the 9th century, who is famous in Jewish history for being the first Zionist, this principle is confirmed. Kumisi wrote that Jews prayed day and night about returning to the Land of Israel, but no one actually did anything about it. Kumisi however formulated the first practical plan for Jews to return to Zion. He then put his money where his mouth was by making Aliyah, emigrating to Israel around the year 800 C.E. Kumisi also wrote about another controversial topic between the Jews, about the pronunciation of Elohims name. After writing and explaining his position he writes: I wrote for you my opinion concerning speaking the name of Lord. As for you, investigate the matter according to your own wisdom lest you do according to my wisdom, relying on my opinion. For anyone who relies with blind acceptance on one of the teachers of the Exile, without investigating well according to his own wisdom is like one engaged in idol worship. [Daniel al-Kumisi, Epistle to the Dispersion, Oxford Bodleian, 2776/5 Ms. Heb. d. 36, folio 14a] Kumisi was saying that blindly accepting what someone says in matters of faith turns that persons words into an idol. Instead of worshipping Elohim based on what He said in Scripture, you end up worshipping El based on what men have said. Even if those men happen to be right in their understanding of Scripture, youve set them up as an intermediary between you and Elohim. Thats exactly what an idol is, an intermediary that people worship instead of directly worshipping Yehovah. Are we going to stop worshipping men, and really going to start worshipping Elohim with all our heart, and with all our soul, and all our might and strength? In an effort to assist those who do not yet have a program to search scriptures I am hereby sharing the location of a site where e-Sword can be freely downloaded. e-Sword is supplied freely to all and consists of various Bible versions, dictionaries, lexicons, concordances, commentaries, reference libraries, etc. Then I am Sharing another site where a Messianic Version of e-Sword is made available, including Hebrew Scriptures and Hebrew audio on the Hebrew Scriptures.
