Yem Mwaghavul Mu, I have painstakingly taken time to follow the trend of all the posts being posted most especially by our youth who are the leaders of tomorrow but unfortunately a lot of our write ups are either based on sentiments or unfounded rumours which leaves much to be desired of a forward thinking generation. Lets abstain from writing what will permanently divide us because United we stand and divided we fall. Unlike other candidates that depend on aides to manage their profiles on facebook, i decided to be available on the social media as a way of gauging the minds and thoughts of our people. (Remember to change a man is not about his or her raiment but its about the mindset.) For the past days this has paid off tremendously as i can averagely tell what is it that actually guides or determine our thought process. Permit me to take you down memory lane for the sake of the records. The Mwaghavul nation through the instrumentality of the KAPUK initially asked all mwaghavul indigenes interested in canvassing for the governorship of Plateau State to submit letters of intent to them. This i participated and at the end of the process there was a unanimous decision that the mwaghavul nation was presenting Prof. Sonni Tyoden as a consensus mwaghavul candidate. As someone who believes in the collective will of the people i humbly accepted that decision and congratulated Prof. Sonni Tyoden. However as the build up to the primaries gathered momentum, it was obvious that the decision of the KAPUK was either not representative of the yearnings and aspirations of the mwaghavul people or the mwaghavul people did not have confidence in the KAPUK. How do we explain another mwaghavul man Rt. Hon. John Clark, a mwaghavul man also contesting against the consensus candidate? what broke the carmels back was the results of the primaries whereby the two mwaghavul aspirants got only 7 votes each totalling 14 votes. The entire delegates of mwaghavul extraction were more than 14 so what really happened? For me its not time to apportion blames but to really find out what transpired. When it was obvious that the tide was changing upon the official release of the PDP primaries results, there was a huge outcry and yearning on the plateau for a deliverer who could salvage the state from the current political quagmire. Very notable individuals, communities and groups most especially from the southern and Northern zone alongside people from the central zone of the state reached out to me and mounted pressure that i take the challenge seeing that i am eminently qualified to contest the governorship of the state. It is in answer to this clarion call based on my personal conviction of the need to PUT PLATEAU FIRST by providing credible and purposeful leadership that i offered myself to run under the platform of the Labour Party knowing that victory lies ultimately in the hands of the almighty through the electorates. For now i am the only mwaghavul man contesting the Governorship of Plateau State but let it be on record that being a Mwaghavul man does not translate to automatic victory for me rather it gives me a platform to build bridges across other ethnic nationalities on the Plateau. Our duty as a nation and as a people is to embark on a paradigm shift and begin to think generationally rather than being myopic. We have had appointments in mwaghavul land but has it given us that leverage we desire? is it that we are not able or we lack the competence to lead. Its high time we sheave our swords and commence a mending process which will see us taking what rightfully belongs to us. I commend all of you for your genuine insights and contributions but let us be very mindful of using words and terms which will only divide us the more rather than unite us. our motto BALKA WALSHAK MPE SEKYEN should be the torch to light every decision we make, every step we take and every speech we make. Thank you for reading and May God bless not just the Mwaghavul people but the entre people of Plateau State. Ambassador Bagudu Hirse.
