Yes, Russia is a troublemaker run by a thug, but it presents nothing like the threat of the Soviet era. Yes, the Arab-Muslim world is falling apart and is polluted by fanatics and fools, but there are pockets of decency and this catharsis is needed before its young people can fully embrace modernity. Yes, America is plagued by guns and sporadic mass shootings, but our cities are safer today than at anytime in history. Yes, religion continues to sow ignorance, superstition and violence worldwide, but each generation becomes more secular and our most successful cultures have shed serious religious belief almost completely. Yes, the world has many problems, but any student of history can tell you more people are living more peacefully, with better prospects, then ever before. There is much reason for hope and muddling through is good enough. Its the best we humans can do. Dont let the medias shrieking get you down.
