Yes, im a Star Wars geek. Heres something to prove it. See the image below? It looks like a normal x-wing, but its actually a pre-production painting by artist Ralph McQuarre for the original 1977 Star Wars. Notice the engines are half-circles, not full circles. George Lucas apparently thought this design looked too futuristic so it was modified to be the more chunky work-a-day x-wing we know from the original trilogy. But just a few days ago a few images were leaked from the set of JJ Abrams Star Wars Episode 7. They show the Millennium Falcon and what appears to be a standard original x-wing. But its not. Look closely at the leaked images... Both at the mock up x-wing and the pieces of white plastic in the foreground. Its an x-wing all right, but a modern x-wing, just like the one in the image below. Why? Because Episode 7 is 30 years after Return of the Jedi and while Ralph McQuarres x-wing (below) looked too sleek for 1977, it is a great evolutionary design for the new x-wings in Episode 7. Expect to see alot of these on the big screen in December 2015! Star Wars geek creed fully established??
