Yes it is real - The Japanese whalers are coming to the Faroes Quite a few Faroese have commented that I made up the story about the Japanese whalers coming to the Faroes. Unfortunately I did not. They are scheduled to arrive on September 4th. By posting this story I am hoping it will expose the fact that they want to participate in the Grind and the authorities will respond by disallowing them to do so, should a Grind take place. It will be interesting if the police block Sea Shepherd from approaching the beach yet allow the Japanese whalers to freely do so. The constant accusations that Sea Shepherd is lying are simply expressions of disagreement. All of the lies when investigated turn out not to be lies at all - just a difference of perspective. Example: Sea Shepherd: whale meat is being sold commercially in the Faroes despite the fact that the whalers say the meat is given away free. Faroese whaler: that is a lie. Sea Shepherd posts pictures of whale meat for sale in supermarkets and in restaurants. Faroese whaler: Once the whale meat is given away freely, the person receiving it can sell it if they choose. Sea Shepherd: So it is then sold commercially? Faroese whalers: No it is not commercial. That is a lie Sea Shepherd: So what would a tourist be paying for when they order a plate of whale meat in the Marco Polo restaurant for 320 kroner ($60)? Faroese whaler: they are paying for the service. Do you expect to eat in a restaurant for free? Sea Shepherd: Thanks for explaining this to us.
