Yes...its raining....there is the following Alert posted for SE Alaska: Southern Inner Channels Severe Watches & Warnings NOAA Weather Radio Special Statement Statement as of 1:15 PM AKDT on August 09, 2014 ...Wet weekend expected for the Panhandle... Three to six inches of rain is expected to fall over Southeast Alaska through Sunday. Generally speaking between one quarter and three quarters of an inch of rain has been reported around the Panhandle since Friday. Rainfall intensity will increase with the periods of heaviest rain being Saturday night and Sunday morning. Rivers and streams will be on the rise over the weekend. In particular...the taiya river may reach bankfull by Sunday night. Another source of concern are some of the smaller...faster responding creeks such as Montana creek...and Jordan Creek in Juneau...staney creek on Prince of Wales Island and Indian River near Sitka which could show steep rises during heavier periods of rain. People living along these waterways should remain vigilant through the weekend. Prepare for rising water levels...clear storm drains...and check that bilge pumps are working on boats. The rain is associated with a slow moving frontal system and an unseasonably wet air mass streaming inland from the Pacific. Winds may be gusty at times over the weekend. With three to six inches of rain forecast over just a couple of days...small landslides are possible Sunday and Monday in steeper terrain.
