Yes smaller government is the rally cry of the Republicans today and many Democrats too. The only ones who really want smaller government is big business so they can remove all regulations ie laws that restrict their rapacious extraction of wealth from workers, consumers and the Earth. They have co-opted the Republican Party and parts of the Democratic Party to do this and convinced them that the deficit and debt is our greatest challenge in America. So they bought into and went full steam with the austerity lie that ravaged social services and poor people and working people. These people, we the people are depending on these services more and more as a result of the evisceration of our economy and shrinkage of our economic opportunities after the largest corporate heist in history in 08. Basically they extracted, no stole trillions of dollars out of the economy in a few years of greed and gluttony by writing their own laws after buying their own lawmakers in our legislature and then paid pennies on the dollar in economic fines when taken to court by the government. Meanwhile millions lost everything they owned, their homes, their jobs, their health insurance and Im sure some even their lives as a result of this massive government insured heist! Our media covered the Occupy Wall Street movement because it was good video and audio but attacked the message when it couldnt find a messenger to single out and attack. Then soon as the government learned these protesters were opting out of politics and voting took that as green light to send in the police to bash heads. The government should post signs and notes on products and services that simply say, Brought to you by the Peoples Government and your taxes! Thank you! We advertise movies, burgers, and cars all day and all night but never advertise the good our own peoples government does as though they expect us to just understand. They take it for granted what the people know and thats a disastrous decision. So its up to us citizens to create educational opportunities to share with our neighbors about the good we do together via local and state and federal government. Lets do that.
