Yes, this is sad, but please know, like many things attributed to Black people it is a thing of the poor and uneducated, not just the Blacks. As with welfare and many other things, because a large number of Blacks are on welfare we assume the majority of people on welfare are Black... which is absolutely wrong. There are more White people on welfare than any other race. Another example is the term CPT (Colored People Time), something I never heard of (growing up in a West Indian family) until I went to college. We say Black people are always late. Im sorry but having worked at a number of jobs, (not to mention the studies showing Black people are more stressed out and worried about losing their jobs than Whites), the majority of Black people Ive worked with are not only on time but early (including myself). And for the record, it isnt like all poor people have these qualities because I can confirm Ive met plenty of wealthy/well-off people that couldnt care enough to let alone, keep a job or go to class, never mind arrive on time. But yes, if you look at a society it will most likely be those without opportunity (the impoverished) that will reflect these negative traits. Being someone that went to an inner city public school all the way through high school and had the opportunity to go to an expensive private school for just one year (a Post Grad year), I can tell you that not only was education and all around intelligence not encouraged in public school but dropping out and getting some 9 to 5 was pushed on us. Now compare that to my other experience in which I was surprised to learn that in a smaller classroom and all around great teachers that actually cared, I LOVED learning. And it saddens me to think how many of our youths would benefit from such a simple change. So as funny as this is, just know, its definitely not just a Black thing. In a country like America where the rich are statistically getting richer as the gap between 1 percent and the 99 grow larger it is not just a Black people falling behind. How could it be?? Is only 12 percent of the country uneducated/ignorant/stupid/embarrassing? As much as we like to poke fun at a certain race, lets look at the overall picture.
