Yesterday (10.26.2014) was AWESOME! :) Thanks God! We had a special event with the mothers in one of our areas here in Tacloban. Before the awarding of winners for the Voices of Women, Voices of Hope, a story writing contest for Moms, we had a talent show first, something they suggested to do. There we witnessed how one of the children teach and led 7 Moms in their presentation of the Karisyohan Dance. What she learned for the past 8 weeks, she now passed on to her mom and her friends :) Everyone was glued to their presentation, the children, some barangay officials, our visitors, even the bystanders, the basketball players had to stop and join the fun in watching this group. Creative. Fun-loving. Resilient. They represent their community. Not perfect but truly rising up after Haiyan. They want to be empowered to be of better help to their families. They won first prize hands down :) Still much work to be done in this area... but we are glad that for 8 weeks, we were able to build relationships for continuing work... empowering the protective environment of children towards community development.
