Yesterday 18h55 I rcvd a call from a man saying hes calling from vodacom, warning me that someone was trying to do a sim swap on my number, he then said he needed to do a security check, Him: you are Sizeka Mbambiso right? Me. Correct: Him you residing at address ****, Me: Correct, Him Mam: when was the last time you recharged and for how much? Me: Today for R**** Him: Can I have two cell number of people you normally contact Me: 07******* & 07********** at 21h55 I rcvd an SMS warning me again that someone has requested for a sim swap, if that was not me I should urgently contact 06*******, I ignored the SMS as they already called me. This morning when I woke up I noticed that there was no network on my phone, I Immediately contacted my service provider and they confirmed that a sim swap was successfully made last night on my number by a woman name Sizeka Mbambiso, thats me, but I did not do any simswap. Me: asking the consultant, what could be the purpose behind this, is there some kind of a scarm that they are up to? Consultant: Yes you need to contact your Bank as in now: Rushed to the Bank explained what happened, investigation was done, to my surprise, this person tried to withdrew money out of my Bank account via Mobile Banking. Luckily there was no funds on it, then they tried my savings, luckily my savings are fixed, so no transactions can be made on them before due date, I had to cancelled all my cards that were linked to that number. So fellows I just thought I should warn you that there is something like this going on.
