Yesterday I did something arguably inappropriate, but like with all courses of action, especially when one is exploring possibilities and sometimes reaches a point of frustration because nothing else has worked, one might resort to such silliness. Anyway, I have rectified the situation, but I have also cut off the one person - a mere acquaintance - who felt it necessary and appropriate to rebuke me, firstly by defending their own position (which wasnt even called into question as they clearly did not pay attention to what I had said in the first place), and secondly by telling me they were offended by my message!!! I have one thing to say to that - and that is in a world where people are too often fake and present a false picture of the themselves and their circumstances, and where it is all too common for people to gossip about others behind their backs, to then complain about the internet making things more transparent and open, well how open we are is up to the people sharing. Most people do not blink an eye when discussing the personal details (whether true or not) of other peoples lives, but when a person dares to share their OWN situation, it is suddenly private and should not be made public? Like there is such a thing as too much truth or degrees of truth and lies!!! I know I am different but it does appear to have been confused a bit. We are offended by people being honest about their own lives, and find little guilt in idle gossip (arguably known as backstabbing). Whether or not you share aspects of YOUR life with other people is YOUR business. And when a lawyer is the person complaining about the delivery of truth, I cannot help but become a little concerned for the justice system. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I have hidden the darker aspects of my life for too long. I prefer to be as transparent as possible. There are enough secrets in this world and at levels which affect great majorities of us - whole nations, and hemispheres. And finally, because the encounter brought out my fiery streak, I would like to borrow the words of one of my favourite public figures, Stephen Fry :-) Have an open-hearted, and honest day ;-)
