Yesterday, I had a good handful of strawberries left from last weeks haul: they were still edible, but a little soft for out-of-hand eating, and too limited in supply for any sort of preserving. So of course, I made strawberry margaritas. I sliced the berries and macerated in sugar and a splash of tequila. And since there was one last stem of last weeks massive bunch of basil getting a bit wrinkly on the counter, I added some basil leaves as well. Strawberry Basil Margaritas: quite delicious, btw. This morning, Tai did the dishes before heading out to work (at 7 am. Because hes awesome like that). And I laughed when I found, carefully set aside on the cutting board, the macerated basil leaves I had pulled out of the strawberry mixture last night just before I blended it with ice. Because, in this house, you never know what use I might have for strawberry-tequila-macerated basil leaves. :)
