Yesterday I posted information from a young African American male high school senior and asked my FB friends and family to submit comments about what advice to give this young man and what they thought about his future. I got some great feedback from Pam Straughter, Treynell Gibson, Wendell Wingate, Lisa Lewis, Charles Richardson, Larry McKinzie, Cathy T. F. Rogers, David Charles Harper, Kelvin Wallace, Gail Fishman, Toni Wykoff-Adams, Ann Beth Wright, G Melinda Michelle Evans, Jennifer Agabiti Hall, Mary Jane Ryals, Roslyn Guerin Simmons, Pamela Cobb Loyd Hill, Summer Hill Seven and Craig Babino. I want to thank each of you for your input. I am honored to have such brilliant and thoughtful people around me. It is because of you and many other people like you, that has allowed that young man to grow into the person he is today... I AM THAT YOUNG MAN! I was asked to participate in a mentoring program and I really didnt want to do it so those comments represented a true but humorous view of my view of high school that I thought would get me kicked out of the program. I never submitted it because I knew they would tell my parents... so I was at least smart enough to keep my opinions to myself! :-) I will be turning 50 soon but I still love this kid and the way he thinks. I pray and will continue to fight against getting too old that I dont remember what its like to be 18 and think you have the world ahead of you.
