Yesterday, I spoke on the House floor in recognition of May as Lupus Awareness Month. Lupus is difficult to diagnose and treat, painful to live with, and has no cure. I saw firsthand how cruel this disease is when my cousin, Kathleen, was diagnosed with lupus and passed away in her 30s.
