Yesterday I was interviewed by two foreign journalists, one from Argentina the other a war correspondent(!) from Switzerland. Today I was interviewed by BBC Radio Scotland. Tomorrow I fully expect the TV cameras to be gracing me with their presence! Another brilliant day campaigning in Aberdeen city centre. Our little team handed out near enough 300 Your Future booklets and the best part of 250 Wee Blue Books in the past two days, as well as over 150 badges and goodness knows how many stickers, window posters and pamphlets. But for me the important part of the day was talking to the people who were still making up their minds and providing them with information to allow them to do so. I had some great conversations with many people, some Yes, some No and a lot in between. However, the low light of the day was the oil worker who decided that he was going to vote No because I had explained to him that the vision many of us have for an independent Scotland was one that was fairer and more evenly balanced. He said Im voting no because I dont want any more of my taxes to support people who cant be ar&%$d working and then decided to be a complete d&%k about it by sticking No stickers on me. Ive met many unpleasant people in my life and I simply dont notice any longer when people swear at me or tell me to foff, but this felt really personal and I cant remember ever watching someone turn into a self-centred, arrogant a&%ehole right in front of me. Compared to him, the shouty man who barracked the undecided woman (and me) about the economy was a breeze. I was quite happy to let him rant at her as he was doing a great job of turning her towards Yes! ;)
