Yesterday I was talking to a client about his last comp prep. He told me he water loaded with 20 litres a day. This is awesome because he somehow got it down without permanent kidney damage, but not surprisingly he looked flat as hell and felt terrible. Heres what I do with water to achieve a dry look. Firstly assuming you dont have a major hormonal imbalance, electrolyte imbalance or have ingested an excessive amount of carbs you shouldnt be holding a whole lot of water under the skin, so I make sure all that is in check first. Then I increase water by a maximum of 2 litres a day in the last week. So if a client typically drinks 4 litres a day I bump it up to 6. If its a little bikini chick I might take her from 2 litres to 3. This is enough to reduce aldosterone production and encourage your body to flush out any excess water, along with the water goes excess electrolytes. The day before the show I cut back to the normal water intake (drop the additional 2 litres) then on show day I encourage my clients to drink if they need too. Nothing excessive but I dont believe there is any need to go without altogether. Thats it and its almost foolproof. Sometimes more is not always better!
