Yesterday, I went back up on the ski mountain to hike and take pics of the strange, strange ice formations in the streams coming down the mountains. As usual, I decided to go off-trail and climb the mountain on one side. It was so steep that sometimes, the earth was right in my face, even as I was upright. Couldnt do that without a trekking pole. I will do anything to be able to keep going and going, to find beauty around every corner. Snow lined the streams, but the higher I got, the less snow because of the sunlight on the ridges. After a couple hours, I removed hat, gloves, scarves, and unzipped my coat. We are so close to the sun here, that when it shines, its often possible to be in the snow with only a tee shirt on and be comfortable. Last night, snow storms with lightning and thunder covered the whole range with deep snow. This morning the whole thing was shrouded in fog and mist. Down here in town, it was rain with some snow mixed in. Right now, a fire in the fireplace before I have to go to work. I cannot tell you how grateful and humbled I am to be able to do these things at my age.
