Yesterday I went down to Dublin for the unveilingand dedication of the Cross of Sacrifice at Glasnevin Cemetery. In attendance was the Duke of Kent and President Higgins. The latter delivered a powerful speech. The heckling by a small group of Republicans failed to mar a great, sombre and dignified occasion. As I walked past them on the way out one of them muttered away home to your fancy bars. What an insult to my local the Cosy. Anyway thanks to Glasnevin Trust and the CWGC for at last remembering all the British soldiers from Ireland that paid the supreme sacrifice. In finishing can I say a big thank you to Jimmy Deenihan the former Minister of the Arts and Culture down south. A gentleman who always had time for this loyalist from Belfast.
