Yesterday I went to the panel discussion with mothers of men - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I went to the panel discussion with mothers of men killed by the police in nyc hosted by the Justice Committee. Eric Garner’s mom was there, Sean Bell’s, Remarly Graham’s, Anthony Baez’…..they each told their story and of the failure of the state to give them justice. It was impossible to listen to. Then they were asked what they wanted from us. They said don’t hijack the actions and to help get an independent prosecutor and then there was a discussion about what people can do who don’t want to participate in street actions. Then I came home to the news of the two police deaths in Bed Stuy. There are many forms of action that we can employ for movement building in the fight against injustice that don’t involve facing off with the police in the street at this time or maybe it’s time to push harder. Time to get more information, to talk and strategize.
