Yesterday Premier Campbell Newman launched the LNPs election campaign and announced five major new policies These are: 1. Strong Choices Future Schools Fund - Building the Schools of the Future, Involves two priority programs: * $700 million to provide up to 22 new schools across the State, ensuring that we plan properly for a bright future for Queensland kids; and * $300 million to upgrade existing school infrastructure around Queensland, delivering modern learning facilities for our kids. 2. Quality Teacher Attraction Plan, $16.255 million to attract high-achieving graduate and post-graduate students to teaching in Queensland, and provide more specialist teachers. including: * 200 Education scholarships for OP 1 and 2 students * 300 Masters (or equivalent) qualifications that would allow teachers to gain specialist status for example in science or maths * Up to one day a week to undertake professional development and further education. 3. Strong Choices Entrepreneurial and Innovation Fund + Research to Reality Program, $90 million into a new Research to Reality program to stimulate innovation and research and $500 million for a new Strong Choices Entrepreneurial and Innovation Fund to secure long-term future investment in collaborative innovation, research and development that will deliver real solutions and jobs for Queenslanders. 4. Safe Young Drivers Reward, any driver under 25 about to go on their open licence and has not lost any demerit points, will be rewarded with a free three year open licence, saving them $118. 5. Strong Plan to Reduce SEQ Water Bills, Almost a million south-east Queensland families will save about $100 over two years on their water bills if the Newman LNP Government is re-elected.
