Yesterday Teddy, Alexander, Teddy’s best friend and I went to what a neighbor described as “The Frog Pond”. I waited for the right day. The boys were bored out of their minds late in the afternoon and the light was beautiful. I tried to think of our little adventure in terms of a picture story. However modest, I hope that it has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Whenever I think of pictures stories my brain immediately switches to black and white. I think it was all that classic University of Missouri photography training. Somehow, little boys with no shirts out in the woods always looks great in black and white. On a technical note, it was actually rather dim in the woods and I shot the whole thing at 1600 ISO. I used a Samsung NX30 and it behaves beautifully at higher ISOs. Your camera may very well do the same thing and you don’t know it. It’s especially useful when you are using your longest lens in relative darkness—very helpful and in this case, no damage done.
