Yesterday, a fellow Veteran that I served with in Iraq received his VA disability rating and confided in me that he had mixed feelings about it. I told him that if we asked our neighbors, almost all of them would tell him that he earned his VA benefit and that they were perfectly happy that their tax dollars were going to his well being and future. I also asked him an important question. What was his physical and mental condition when he voluntarily joined the Army and went to war? Of course, his answer was that both were considerably better than they are now. I said, well, then put your mixed feelings aside. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice. A grateful nation now has your back. Let the Veterans in your life know that you support their healing. Dont forget that while we say, thank you for your service, all the time, we also back up that thanks with real programs designed to mend the woulds of war, both seen and unseen.
