Yesterday, a friend of mine called my wife to tell her about her dog who committed suicide. Imagine, her pet dog, who is an askal, young, robust, and seemingly alright. He jumped from a height of 2-storey building of the zipline tower. My wife referred this problem to me, maybe because she was thinking that I am a brain and behavior specialist. I told my wife, Ma, I am a human doctor, not an animal doctor. But in retrospect, I told myself, maybe this dog suffered a psychiatric condition called depression. Question to my friend veterinarians, is there such thing as Depression in Dogs! How do you diagnose this condition? Is there treatment? I need help.
