Yesterday, a man who believed in Taking this country back and that - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, a man who believed in Taking this country back and that this should be a Christian nation took those attitudes to their innate, violent conclusions and shot a child, an elderly man and a woman at a Jewish Community Center and an assisted living center the day before Passover. The phrase, Taking this country back implies they are willing to do this by force, harming people they believe have something of yours. And the implication of claiming that this is a Christian nation is those who are not Christian or not Christian enough for them will have to do one of four things: 1. Convert 2. Hide 3. Leave 4. Die Those who have chanted these phrases for the past few years now have to deal with the realization that words and attitudes have power and, used frivolously, can kill. Frazier Glenn Miller took them at their word and acted to take this country back from those who embrace diversity and believe the Constitutional right of freedom of religion by slaughtering innocent individuals. Miller may have pulled the trigger but those who have called for force, violence and a theocracy stood by him shoulder to shoulder. Their hands are just as bloody. As we celebrate our deliverance all those many years ago, may we also pray and act to celebrate the diversity and freedom of religion so that no religious minority group, ours or any other, should ever go through pogroms like this again in America.
