Yesterday a very sad incident happened in kth orthopedics unit. I will narrate the whole story in detail. I was on 24hr emergency duty and due to some administrative problems i was all alone at night duty. At 6:33 am i received a call from student nurse that a patient naming waqif khan with history of FAI to both legs has arrived.At 6:40 am when i reached the ward the patient was lying on couch in the ward. he was received in A&E at 5:30 and was given all emergency treatment including X rays, fluids, antibiotics and analgesics. i gave him a backslab and arranged 3 pints of blood transfusing 1pint stat. his distal neurovascular status on one side was equivocal so we decided including seniors(professor) to send him to LRH vascular unit. By now it was getting 9:30am. We were in the morning round when DUNYA news people entered the ward and took photages and interview of the patient. After that the media men started listening to attendants of other patients and making videos. When they entered the female chamber, where dressing of a young female patient who has undergone I&D of septic hip was being done, and started making video. All the doctors got agitated and asked them to stop and get an official permission for all their activities. DUNYA news started using filthy language and started getting physical so they were pushed out of the ward. After 2hours PDA came and told us that Dunya news people has an angry mob out side carrying sticks and bats. Around 10 to 15 doctors went out to have a dialogue with them. we found MS and CEO kth standing outside and saying that the mob is not ready to negotiate. All of sudden after exchanging some harsh words with PDA officials the mob attacked us and started beating doctors.(VIDEO PHOTAGES are available of all this). Dr saqib was hit on his ankle with a sharp and he sustained tear of posterior tibial nerve, tendon, EHL and deltoid ligament.(VIDEOS AVAILABLE), dr khurshid, dr Fazal and me myself received blunt injuries. Today the print media has narrated another story, mentioning a police constable naming shahzad who according to them was mismanaged by me and he died consequently. while such a patient hasnt been presented to A&E even, no record available in KTH atleast. so this is a whole scenario. now they are doing our character assassination and black mailing the doctor community. but let me tell you that they are off course very strong but if we are united we will win and white coat honour will be established.
