Yesterday after over an hour and a half of waiting for a rick I had to call my mum to pick me up from class. I told my students today about my plight as we finished with the class test. After sending the students home and packing up, I spoke to the garden authorities and walked towards the road. As I got closer I could hear this huge chaos.... chaos of people screaming for a rickshaw 😨... I rushed to the gate to see my 30 students scattered all over the place yelling at the ignorant rickshaw waalas and pouncing on people who called out for rick, Saying pehle meri teacher jaayegi! After 45 minutes of wait the kids finally cornered a rick and stopped it. Screaming and shouting in an effort to explain to the confused rickshaw waala why they did what they did, I came and calmed them down. The rickwaala and the passenger were almost rolling on the floor with laughter listening to the kids. I finally sat in the rickshaw and realised I had no change.... embarrassed, i asked the driver if he had a change for 500. He told me IN ENGLISH, No need maam, it is my privilege to have you as my passenger for the good work you are doing. I feel very lucky. How awesome can today be 😊 Mom says this is #MumbaiMeriJaan 😁
