Yesterday at the 2014 City to Surf fun walk run, the Blacktown - TopicsExpress

Yesterday at the 2014 City to Surf fun walk run, the Blacktown Domestic Violence Liaison Officer Constable Warne, joined the General Manger of Blacktown Workers Club Neal Vaughan who is a White Ribbon Ambassador. Mr Vaughan and the Blacktown Workers Club is in the process of becoming accredited White Ribbon Work Place. Also in the team was Mark Walker who is in the process of becoming a White Ribbon Ambassador. Mr Walker is the CEO from Gold Crest Security who currently provides the funds to the WASHHOUSE (Women’s activities and self help house) for a Domestic Violence Specialist Counsellor to work one day a week at the Blacktown Women’s and Girls’ Health Centre. The General Manager of Gold Crest Security Grant Heaves was also on our team. The team was walking to support the White Ribbon foundation to raise awareness about men standing up and saying NO to Domestic Violence. Mr Vaughan and Mr Walker had a goal of 2.20 hrs to complete the 14 kilometers. They spoke with Constable Warne that if they did not reach the finish by this time, every minute that lapsed after the two hour twenty mark they would personally donate to the White Ribbon Foundation. They were well prepared with training so Cst Warne had to cause distractions along the way to make sure they did not reach their goal. Due to the distractions along the way, they happily missed their time by 11 minutes which added extra funds to the over Fifteen thousand dollars they both raised between them for the White Ribbon Foundation. On behalf of the Blacktown Command we thank everyone for the efforts on the City to surf and especially the great amount raised for White Ribbon Foundation.
