Yesterday evening Deborah Mutch and I headed to Nottingham - TopicsExpress

Yesterday evening Deborah Mutch and I headed to Nottingham Playhouse to see the new play, Propaganda Swing - an absorbing and complex play about jazz, nazism, the excuses people make for their conduct and what we tolerate to survive. The music and the way it is performs - and its language - changes through the play so that the applause and laughter of the audience is gradually chilled into silence. For me the outstanding performance, in a terrific cast, was Chris Andrew Mellon as Otto Stenzl - and I dont think Ill forget Callum Coates as William Joyce (Lord Haw Haw) for a long time. Do get to see this at the Playhouse if you can - and meanwhile here is a track from Otto Stenzel and the Scala Orchestra in 1939. youtube/watch?v=titq71v2LAc
