Yesterday evening the people met at Taksim to commemorate Ethem Sarisülük, the protester that was killed by a panicking police officer that was released from court a few days ago. After 3-4 hours of slogans and protesting, and after no police intervention, the protests finished and people left. Out of all the protests I have been in there are only a couple of times the police did not attack. Every time they let us speak our mind they see no violence. The protests in Turkey have been continuing with a great sense of responsibility, empathy and self-restraint. This has been a problem for the politicians when they try to silence the people. Its easier to beat up aggressive protesters than peaceful ones. To justify their actions against the protesters they pour out with desperate lies on TV. The molotov episode was just another desperate action by the government. Smear campaigning is their only choice. Dinosaur politicians have no chance against the info age generation!
