Yesterday morning at 9:00 A.M. SGO was visited by a group of students from St. Genevieve School. After a week at The Childrens Museum Camp and a week at Nicholls Science Camp, parents decided to top off summer camps by visiting SGO. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and we could not view the Sun. So it was a lecture on the Universe and science experiments galore with the kids getting involved, all hands-on. Later the kids visited our Biology Lab and received an education from our instructor Ms. Dee. Our theme yesterday was all about atmospheric pressure and how it effects the human body. in addition, we stilled the atoms of gas in a balloon, made liquid air, froze and boiled water at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, tortured Peeps, enlarged marshmallows, smashed marshmallow, broke yardsticks with pressure, liquid nitrogen experiment, meteor showers and meteorites and other experiments. Also the meaning of Nullius en Verba and Abstract Thought. As the kids were leaving we questioned them on certain matters and they answered correct. SGO had as much fun as the children, we enjoy watching their expressions when something new and different is shared with them. SGO
