Yesterday my new little area in my lawn was made for a Peony garden. My mother wanted to give me a peony as a housewarming gift. This is a tradition with her, She gave me one when I moved to McHenry in 1997. She wanted to give me one in Lake Zurich, but in the townhouse, I had limited space. Now I have an area in the front yard that actually gets sun. I have woods on 3 sides of my house here, so I really value where the sun peaks through. My peony garden is a bean shape about 8 by 10. I have two pink peonies, 3 red peonies, some catmint and some bleeding heart with the dark crimson leaves. Everything is small at this point, but I know perennials are on a three year plan...sleep,creep, leap!. Have a beautiful day.
