Yesterday, one of my best friends lost the love of her - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, one of my best friends lost the love of her life...After being married for over 65 years and living a very full life, my father-in-law went to be with the Lord. I was so blessed to have such a special man in my life. He loved my mother-in-law faithfully for almost 70 years. He raised four wonderful sons, one of which I am blessed to be married to. He taught his children to work hard and he taught by example. He was a man of faith...faithfully attending church, supporting his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in so many ways, and he was a man who was always taking care of something...the yard, projects around the house and yes, he faithfully did dishes every night after supper. (It is easy to see why my mother-in-law loved him so much...) He loved his coffee, Stockholm Inn, his walks at the mall and he loved Gods people. Even when Dad came to visit us, he would always find someone to talk to at the coffee shops here. He served the United States faithfully in WWII and often told us stories of the war. He was a very intelligent man and could converse about so many things. He loved and accepted all his daughter-in-laws as if they were his own children. What have we got here? was a favorite phrase of his as he looked at yet another 4-H project, a school project, an award the children earned...Thank you, Lord, for the faithfulness of my father-in-law in so many areas of his life. Thank you for giving our family a modern day hero, someone who loved you and someone that his children and his grandchildren could look up to. We are going to miss him soooo very much, but we have the assurance today that Dad is walking with you now on those streets of gold. Please give him a project because he will be faithful to do the job for you and it will make him eternally happy knowing that he can continue to serve you. Be with Mom and give her your peace and comfort...I am so glad that she has such a strong and comforting Father to care for her each day...We love you dad and we are going to miss you in so many ways...
