Yesterday, one of our team posted that in visiting with family over the holidays, her mom brought up the topic of education by saying, “What is going on with that idiot Governor? I wasted a vote on him when I thought he would work with that Ritz woman and help our schools. What are we going to do?” Coincidentally, my mother came over to my house for the holidays with a stack of newspaper articles* - all about Pence and Ritz. She thought I would like to read them since she knew how hard I campaigned last season for Ritz. After I perused the articles, I asked my mom, Well, what do you make of this? She replied, Well, isnt it obvious. Pence is pulling an end-around and spending millions of taxpayers dollars doing it. He needs to just let Ritz do the job she was elected to do and start acting like the Republican governor he was elected to be. We know of at least two grandmas that were getting the message! The most critical audience with whom we need to keep communicating the perils of education deform are those who do not have a direct connection to public education, yet are taxpayers and voters. *Most of the articles were from the Journal Gazette. Once again I want to commend the reporting from this newspaper for the excellent work they produce.
