Yesterday, our UMAVA a veterans org, Color Guard led by Jose Martinez, US Marine (Desert Storm era); and composed of: Nelida Mendoza Yanez (US Army - Korea); Ralph Colin, US Army (Vietnam); Sal Lujan (US Army-Korea); Richard Garza (US Army - Vietnam), we participated in the screening of Forgotten Eagles - Aguilas Aztecas (Aztec Eagles, the Mexican squadron 201 which trained in American bases, and fought along-side the American military defending the Philippines. Hon. Alejandra García-Williams spoke eloquently about the service of 201 Squadron; and also Hon. Lou Correa former Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee of the CA Senate. This was hosted by the Santa Ana Public Library, and organized by Milly C. Lugo, Sr Librarian. We would love to bring the documentary back for a greater audience, including our youth at our schools. I was honored to lead on The Pledge of Allegiance . . . what an incredible documentary produced and directed by Victor H. Mancilla . . . the bravery and effectiveness of the Mexican pilots was attested to by American commanders in the battlefield. SEMPER FI - Francisco J.
