Yesterday there was two therapists working with Evelyn. They set her up at the edge of the bed for about an hour. Then they lifted her up on her feet so she could stand up for awhile as they held her up. Evelyn smiled and giggled about that, she enjoyed standing. They held her up that way for about fifteen minutes then they set her back on the edge of the bed. Then they put her in the chair. The speech therapist came then and the other two left. The speech therapist worked with Evelyn for an hour and she set in the chair the whole time. Then we put her back in the bed. The speech therapist said since Evelyn is swallowing water without choking from it, she is going to see if Evelyn can swallow some apple sauce next time she comes out. Evelyn still is not speaking yet, still working on that to. If Evelyn does good with the apple sauce we will keep working on getting her to eat puddings and yogurts, working on getting the G tube removed and getting her to eat solid foods. All three of the therapists said Evelyn is doing very well at responding to therapy. She is on the road to recovery, but it will be a slow process.
