Yesterday was a big win for the Fort Hood community! Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn were able to enter language into the Senate’s version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to help the victims of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting. Earlier that day my House colleagues and I passed House version of the NDAA with identical language to help Fort Hood. In the past 24 hours, the victims and families of the 2009 Fort Hood attack are closer to becoming eligible for the Purple Heart, accompanying benefits and closure than ever before thanks to the help of the Texas Delegation. I urge the Senate to pass their version of the NDAA and for the President to speedily sign this legislation into law so the victims and families can finally get the closure they deserve.
