Yesterday we opened the discussion of the miracle of Christ’s birth. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, Luke 1:27. In theological terms Christ’s birth is defined as unique. The birth of Christ is like no other. It cannot be explained through human logic or human understanding. The virgin birth is really beyond us. The virgin birth is a miracle. As usual, people have sought an answer for the virgin birth. One theory is that God took the seed of Joseph and planted it in the womb of Mary. This cannot be. Since Joseph was a mortal man, he was corrupt, being in the flesh. The sacrifice for mankind’s sin required a perfect sacrifice. Biologically we understand that blood is produced when the male seed is introduced to the female egg. This process is called fertilization. A good illustration of this is the egg of a hen. Every good baker checks to see that there are no blood streaks in a hen’s egg before using. The blood means that the egg has been fertilized. Moses writes in Leviticus 17:11, For the life of the flesh is in the blood. For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof. Since there is no life in the egg until the male seed unites with it, and the life is in the blood, we can make that point that the male seed is the source of the blood, the seed of life. The mother provides a safe, protective environment for the baby to grow and mature. If any of the blood of the mother and baby mixes, there are sever complications that take place. Again, Jesus Christ has one source of blood, the Father. Jesus Christ is our perfect and eternal sacrifice. For Him to fulfill that role His blood had to come from a perfect source, Hebrews 9:14. The source of Christ’s blood is the Father, by way of the Holy Spirit, Luke 1:35. If the source of Christ’s life was Joseph, His blood would be the blood of a mortal man. Since the source of Christ’s blood is the Father, His blood is perfect, undefiled by sin, and eternally worthy, Hebrews 13:20. Jesus Christ was born to die. He became the sacrifice that no mortal man could provide for himself. That is the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus Christ is God’s gift to mankind. Only by believing and receiving Christ can mankind receive the gift of eternal life. The Scriptures tell us that eternal life is a guarantee to all that receive Him, Acts 2:21; Romans 10:13. Will you receive God’s greatest gift this Christmas? Acts 4:12, “…for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Blessings, Dan & Rita youtu.be/NEY-3EmqufY
