Yesterday we said goodbye to our GuruJi, Pt. Chitresh Das. He was not your average man: he was a fearless, tireless, intelligent and brutally honest human being and teacher who saw everyones potential, giving so much of his energy, love and knowledge to his students and disciples so we could achieve something greater than ourselves. But many of us hadnt fully understood his teachings while he was alive. Perhaps, in a way, what he gave us were gifts that were not meant to be open during his time on earth; rather they were to be unwrapped after hed left, so they may be used wisely and with care. Its a new day, a new beginning. Our GuruJi hasnt left us; he merely planted the seeds so that we, as a community, can use the art of Kathak as a means to make an impact on this world.
