Yesterday we were out in Tanker 11 spotting tornados and we saw - TopicsExpress

Yesterday we were out in Tanker 11 spotting tornados and we saw this one. Then we saw this farmhouse. All 7 people in the cellar were alive but there was a lot of debris to get through. With the help of neighbours a lot of debris was cleared quickly. Then Engine 11 arrived and brought some saws and ladders up. We were able to cut a hole in the floor and all 7 climbed out unharmed along with a dog and 2 cats. In the fire department we see some bad stuff, but today was a good day. Sure there was a lot of property damage but with the total devastation around, to see all seven climb out unharmed was very gratifying. Thanks be to God. Tremendous response from our department and from our neighbours of Silvercreek and New Jasper on scene and other departments staged at Cedarville University. It is wonderful to work under the leadership of Chief Scott Baldwin and Asst Chief Kyle Miller and alongside Jordan Reese, Ethan Simpson, Jesse Cowell and many more. The police and sheriffs office were there in force. Our trustee Taylor Minor was there with a vat of Stoney Creek Roasters coffee. There were TV trucks as far as the eye could see I hear it was on national news. Later that night we went to help a woman who raises horses who had lost part of her roof by covering her belongings in her attic and some hay in her barn. She had found one of her brood mares 200 yards away dazed and beaten up lying down in a wheat field. She was blown away that we were there, she said she did not know where to start. But thats our Chief and it is what we do. Finally home at 2am. Up early for a 6:30 appointment.
