Yet again...below are some extremely kind words from the mother of the bride of a wedding that took place earlier this month at The Merrill Farmhouse! Dear Sir or Madam: I am writing to thank the chefs and servers at Black Tie, and especially your event planner, Sandra, for making it possible for us to give my daughter, Sarah, the wedding of her dreams! The venue was just perfect. The farmhouse and accommodations allowed us to make in a wedding weekend for many friends and relatives, rather than the typical 5 or 6 hour event one expects of a wedding. The farmhouse was SO much more than we expected. In a word, lovely- in every way-expansive, comfortable, beautifully decorated ( and I dont say that about much) and maintained. From Friday afternoon, when the set up began and the rehearsal took place, until Saturday night, the Black Tie staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. I was very pleased with my daughters menu selections and they proved to be excellent almost across the board. The entrees were uniformly delicious and the vegetables and salads were also just great. I was disappointed in the apple pie, but perhaps I am being overly picky and perhaps, as well, only comparing it to the absolutely delicious blueberry crisp. Most of all, I want to emphasize how wonderful the staff was. One of the waitstaff even volunteered to stay near a room where my brother-in-law, who has Parkinsons disease, needed to rest, and thereby allow my sister, Sarahs favorite aunt, to attend the dinner. That was an offer made by the waiter, whose name I failed to get, but was and is appreciated more than I can say. The smartest move I made all through this process, however, was to tell my daughter to reserve Sandras services for the rehearsal and the day of the wedding. Her cheerfulness, attentiveness, and obvious expertise made it possible for me, Sarah, and my husband to just enjoy the whole affair. She walked us through the rehearsal on Friday and oversaw the set up of the barn and tent that afternoon. On Saturday I never had to worry about where anyone was or needed to be because Sandra had already seen to it. She worked quickly and unobtrusively , occasionally stopping to ask me a question or, thank heavens, tell me where I needed to be as I was meandering about. I could hardly believe it when she told me that Sarahs was her first wedding! Things went so smoothly that I thought she must have done dozens. I only hope that she found us as easy and pleasant to work with as we did her. She is a huge asset to your company. Again, thank you so much for making our day so wonderful.
