Of course, business people regularly disdain useless college degrees like English, calling them impractical. Listen up, business people: teaching students to memorize a plethora of nouns, pronouns, participles, verbs, etc. is not going to make better communicators out of them. Guiding them to think, and to read critically; to understand basic logic, and showing how things connect together and interrelate will do more to teach communication than the stupid cookbook methods the business folks try to apply to everything. The earth does not spin on bullet points, and this insane notion that by removing the detail of language and leaving only skeletal bullet points will somehow translate into greater efficiency. Ive worked with all echelons of business folks, and the truth is that from the top down, theyre all pretty terrible writers and communicators. So, they may be mad, but I can assure you, they are a large part of the problem. They need to understand how to get what it is they think they want.
