You Gotta Know When To Hold Em, Know When To Fold Em, Know When To Walk Away, Know When To Run Over the last 2 weeks Ive been in negotiations with some of the biggest and potentially most lucrative contracts in my life. It sort of feels like a Lebron James fiasco the way people have been courting and encouraging me to take part in their deals. A few years ago my impulsive self would of probably jumped at a few of these opportunities in a New York minute. After all, its hard to turn down a bunch of bling staring right at you in the face. But my older, wiser self has become patient and weighs the possibilities a lot more carefully. Sure, I could make some quick money by taking on a few of these deals. And a few others could payoff in ridiculous sums Ive personally never seen before, but ultimately when I ponder the bigger picture I realize that its My business I should be building, not another persons. And while Ill always want to help others to build their empire, its important to make sure that its not done at the cost of hurting your own. Sometimes my desire to help others is simply not the right call. So if youre one of the 25 to 30 entrepreneurs whom I decided against working with in the last week or so, please know that in most cases its nothing personal. I just need to learn to lay down some hands so I can focus on winning bigger pots that are more aligned with my true core and who I really am.
