You are ALWAYS going to find different opinions about the American Bully. The breed was initiated by hustlers. There will never be any truth to it. The purist want the 1st cut American Bully to be the only one. The 1st cut is the first time they introduced bulldog breeds into the equation. The exotic people want to keep adding in the bulldog look. They prefer the look so they see nothing wrong with it while the Purist puts out post after post after post on how they are destroying the breed. This breed was built from hustlers that knew how to market and capitalize off of the sale of a dog. If you can market or have a solid sales strategy then you used to be able to make quite a comfortable living at selling American Bullies. The Purist are Hypocrites. The founders of the breed, and in many many cases the Leaders in the community, are the ones that started adding in bulldogs. Now there is something wrong with it? Dont get me wrong, I am not a fan of cross breeding unless it is done with a blueprint of how to do it, the knowledge on how to breed out the faults and health issues from the breed you introduce, and the foresight to realize that not every dog needs to be sold. Those are only a few of the things needed to start a breed. The best part of the American Bully world is the ignorance of its community. You have some basic types in the AM BULLY World: 1. The Loudmouth - These people preach this and preach that. They always have the best of everything and spare no expense to buy what they think everyone wants. 2. The Illusionist - They preach this and that while they do the exact opposite. Most of the time they are too ignorant to realize the trash that falls out of their mouth is transparent and they look like the biggest fools in the world. These are the people that will stab you in the back and use you for anything and everything. They often have little to no experience in the breed but come off as an expert. 3. The Hobby breeder - These people are the purest form of a breeder. they stick to their plan and add in different bloodlines to create the ultimate dog. Show rings, Standards, breed type, health, and structure all play a part in the end result. They try to fit in but at the end of the day could care less about the politics, groups, factions, registries, or Fitting In. 4. The Entrepreneur - These people sell dreams not dogs. They recognize something that is on the rise and are usually the first to get in on the ground floor. They have no guidance except for the dollar. They are constantly under attack by the purist for being a contributing factor to Ruining their breed 5. The New Comers - they often start out trying to find dogs off of what they see as popular on FB. They Usually pay a lot of money to a Loudmouth because they are sold a dream. The end result of their dog does not live up to the hype they were sold. They then try to re-coop their money buy buying low to sell high and flooding an already saturated market. They are the next generation of Breeders in this community. While not all New comers are like this it does represent the majority. The ones that see the dogs they intend to buy in person, listen to the advice of the experienced people, cipher through it and put together what they think will help them achieve their goals ..... will be the true next generation of breeders. This is our breed in a nutshell through my eyes. There are some that say if you want the bulldog look then go and get a bulldog. That is one of the more reasonable expressions in the ongoing debate of the AM Bully. It is not my place to say whether it is right or wrong. Everyone has their own opinion. If you breed for Structure, Health, and can achieve the look you want then I applaud you. This is still a very young breed and it needs to be regulated by an Impartial third party. If the community backs a regulator then there will be a better chance for the breed to stabilize. There is no reason why any style cant be bred to any other style to create an incredible AM Bully, there just needs to be better direction. JMO
