You are a Goddess. Yes, you. Your inner light shines so brightly - TopicsExpress

You are a Goddess. Yes, you. Your inner light shines so brightly that sometimes it’s blinding. But it wasn’t always this way. Sometimes that inner light inside of you grew dim. Those were the times in your life when you felt lost, disconnected from yourself and the world around you. But like a lighthouse illuminating the dark waters to bring ships safely to shore, your inner light is a beacon for the world around you. You must take care of it and let it shine. How do you do this? It’s simple. Take time to honor your Inner Goddess every day. You might do this by meditating or taking a bubble bath or talking a walk through nature. It doesn’t matter what it is; just do something every day that makes your soul sing. You see, the best way to take care of your Inner Goddess is to take care of yourself. Nourish Her and watch yourself flourish. I know, I know. You’re thinking to yourself, “But I don’t have time for self-care.” Yes, you do. Time isn’t the issue; priority is, specifically prioritizing yourself. Think of it this way: if your boss told you that if you didn’t attend a certain meeting you would lose your job – a job you love – you’d probably make a damn good effort to get there. Self-care is that important. If you don’t take care of yourself, you’re going to lose not just your job, but your life – your very reason for being. There were times in my life (some quite recently), when I have thought to myself, “It will free up so much time if I just give up ______ [insert your form of self-care].” And when I cave into that way of thinking, I can feel my inner light starting to dim. I get tired and cranky and wonder why I made the decision to give up my self-care. Because in reality, the time I gave up went to something that wasn’t all that important. Like working more, or checking email or social media. Bottom line: the time I “freed up” was time spent enjoying life less. I don’t know about you, but spending my time doing things that make life less enjoyable is not how I truly want to spend my time. Here are three tips to guide you in carving out time for self-care: 1. Your Personal Reason - Figure out why it’s so important that you do _________ [insert self-care method here]. (Hint: It can’t be “because I should.” That never works.) It should be a specific, personal reason that you know without a doubt to be true. Something like, “When I meditate (or take a bath or a walk in nature) I’m calmer,” “I make better decisions,” or “I sleep better.” 2. Put it in your Schedule – Pretend your self-care is a very important doctor’s appointment or crucial meeting at work. Something you know you would never make an excuse to miss. Treat it like that appointment. Make it sacred. And be specific: When are you going to do it? For how long? Another tip: start small. If you haven’t been taking care of yourself for a while, saying you are going to walk in nature for an hour a day is not realistic. Start with 5 min. Once you can do that, start upping the time gradually. 3. Have a Plan B – If you have to miss your self-care appointment, immediately reschedule it for another time – preferably that very same day. Because when you put off taking care of yourself, you are sending your Inner Goddess the message, “I’m not worth it.” But you are. You are a Goddess! Of course, you’re worth it! When you feel that inner light starting to dim, say the following: “I am a Goddess. I am sacred and holy. I deserve to take exquisite care of myself every single day.” If you are so out of touch with your Inner Goddess that you don’t know what She wants, check out what some of my Modern Day Goddess friends do to take care of themselves. And while you’re at it, take your planner out and schedule your self-care appointment in right now. Then vow to honor that time you’ve set aside for yourself. Remember your new mantra: “I am a Goddess. I am worth it!”
